My name is Mathias Bosse and I am a passionate venture capital investor and angel investor. Since 2017 I managed 17 portfolio companies while working for seed + speed Ventures and Brandenburg Kapital. Along the way I not only worked with a diverse set of increadible founders but was also lucky to complete two exits from my portfolio so far. Before I started my career as a venture capital investor I helped building the e-health startup Emperra as a CFO for several years. The first ten years of my carreer I worked for different consulting companies. Among others I spent some years at Ernst & Young Transaction Advisory Services focusing on valuation and financial modeling. In 2010 I earned a MBA form HHL Graduate School of Management and in 2013 I earned my CFA designation while working with Ernst & Young.
Angel Investment and Pre Seed Funding
For my business angel investments I am focussing on ambitious founder teams that build great software startups and are looking for angel investment or pre seed funding. Through my career I gained insights in various industries and invested at different stages of the startup lifecycle. Early stage venture capital has always fascinated me and as an active angel investor I am supporting founders to make their first steps and maybe prevent some mistakes on their journey. While I am based in Berlin, where I work as a venture capital investment manager, I am looking for angel investments not only in Berlin but across Europe.
What I look for as an Angel Investor
Here is what I am looking for when providing pre-seed funding or seed funding as a business angel:
- start-ups with a (B2B) technology focussed business (preferrably software)
- at least MVP status
- located in Europe
- complementary founding team
- pre-seed round (ideally syndicating with other angel investors)
If your company matches the above criteria feel free to share your pitchdeck and some basic information and I will provide you with a feedback as soon as possible.

What foundersnextlevel.com is all about
Besides finding great startups and promoting me as an Angel Investor, I have startet this blog to create a space where founders can get information, inspiration and help to manage their companies better. I imagine it to become a place for sharing knowledge and experiences for the everyday challenges of startups. While every startup might be build around a unique product idea they all have to tackle simimilar problems regarding to HR and leadership, markting and sales, finance and accounting as well as funding.
Over the years I have learned that being an entrepreneur is sometimes a lonely job. Your employees, your customers and your venture capital investors expect you to build a performing product and business. Therefore, this blog should be a place to learn how others dealt with those questions and to teach best practices adressing those challenges. I would be grateful if this website once could become a place where successful founders share their learnings and help their younger peers to get through the tough part of building a prospering venture.
